Our Post Office in St Minver has to find a new base. The local community hall (Perceval Institute) has offered space but the costs for builders, electricians etc will only partly be met by the Post Office. We are therefore asking the community to support the Perceval to enable this valued service to be maintained for the area. The closest alternative office in Rock will be closing in November this year.
This re-location is occurring at a time when the Post Office network is shrinking, even in the larger cities. It is our belief that we will in effect create a Community Post Office in a Community building turning a short term problem into a solution for the foreseeable future.
Your support will be most welcome as it will help us to protect this important rural service for its community and visitors.
The Perceval Institute was built in the 1890s with its principal donor the Rev Sandford in memory of his wife’s late brother Perceval.
The charity was formed in September 1999 to enable the long term running and control of the building for its community. It is therefore entirely appropriate that the building is now to house as well the Community Post Office.
