Perceval Institute

The Perceval Institute built in 1895 is located at the heart of the village of St. Minver in North Cornwall. It is a separate self-supporting charity created in 1999 and the PCC is named as the managing trustee.

Formerly intended as a Sunday School the charity’s object changed to further the religious and other charitable work in the parish by the provision of a hall. The charity operates through an active Management Committee that currently includes three members of the PCC. Regular reporting to the PCC takes place following each management meeting.

In 2018 a secure section of the building was let for use as a Sub Post Office. Apart from the off-street parking shown, the Institute enjoys its own private car parking at the rear.

Hire of the hall is primarily to accommodate private and social club users as well as PCC/Church occasional use. The hall has a fully equipped kitchen, and every opportunity has been used to update kitchen and hall with equipment, Wi-Fi etc. to attract hirers where possible.

There are a wide range of activities, but the management committee have been very pleased to support and create group activities for elderly members of the community. Local and National elections use it as a Polling station and it is a ”County Council official place of refuge” in emergencies.

It is in reality the Village Hall and has always enjoyed considerable community support from its very inception, this is very evident in the financial support from donations and grants attracted to enable the committee to undertake a major upgrade to include a replacement roof at this time.
